So far, in the medical world, those people who lost their hands in an accident, the facility of prosthetic hand can be found only after transplantation but they will not need transplant soon because scientists have given such technical permission in which Operational prosthetic hand will be placed without any sensors on the nerves. Its wrists and fingers will work according to the sensors on the nerves. This technology has been introduced in the country's largest pharma conference in Bangalore.
The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has described it as the largest example of Made in India, so far 8 people have successfully tested this technique.
Soon it will be sent for the approval of the ISI, so far, only hands are installed in select institutions like Amrish Hospital and Kochi-based Amrita Hospital.
Doctors take 14 to 16 hours in one transplant and it costs about Rs 20 lac.
For the first time in India, the transplantation of a foreign citizen was done in Kochi on August 8, 2017.
Scientist Akshay Saxena said that this is an alternative to upper arm transplant i.e. hand transplantation. With this technology, affordable hand transplant facility can be provided to the poor citizens.
After about 8 months, this research process is expected to end and then the ministry will start work on it.
