In its original form, the entry into the space age of India came on April 19, 1975, when the first satellite "Aryabhata", created from indigenous technology through Soviet Rocket Inter Cosmos, near Viers Lake was successfully launched in space, but in preparing its base it took about 27 years.
It is worth remembering that in 1948, a physical research laboratory was established by Dr. Vikram Ambalal Sarabhai in Ahmedabad, whose house was inaugurated on 10th April 1954 by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the country's first Prime Minister. This laboratory is the real mother of Indian space programs and today Also its importance is undone
In 1962, Indian National Space Research Committee was constituted by the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India for peaceful use of outer space, and a year after that, a sound rocket launch facility was established in Thumba near Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.
With this, the launch of the Indian space program began to move forward in its original form and in October this year, the administrative work of the space activities under the direction of Dr. Sarabhai by the Indian government was handed over to the Physical Research Laboratory and on the evening of November 21, 1963, India first fired rocket in space. After this, a revolt was launched in this direction in 1969 when the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) was formed in Bengaluru.
In 1972, the Space Commission was established independently by the Indian Government in collaboration with the Department of Space. It is necessary to clarify here that the entire responsibility of operating the space programs is from the Department of Space, While the Space Commission serves as its Research & Development organizations.
Vikram Ambalal Sarabhai has the most important contribution in speeding up the journey of Indian space program from 1948 to 1972. Due to which on 20th November 1967, India launched the world of space experiments by launching "Rohini-75" with only 75 mm diameter.
Dr. Sarabhai died on December 29, 1971, but by following his important and useful advice, India entered into an agreement with the Soviet Union on 10 May 1972. According to which it agreed to launch satellites in space with the satellite launch vehicle built in India.
